The AMCIS Community Viewer is an enterprise solution allowing secure access to patient medical records for approved medical facilities in the medical community.
"Let me give you a recent example which illustrates how the unique features within AMCIS have helped us. I will tell you about one patient who was traveling abroad (in Switzerland), became ill, and required hospitalization for urgent surgery. His medical records were available in AMCIS, and accessible over the internet from any computer in the world. When a patient registers with the practice, they are given a "one-time-use” password to distribute to anyone they choose. This particular patient granted permission for the Swiss doctor to access his medical files, to gather critical information about his complicated past medical history, which was instrumental in "nursing him” through his urgent hospital stay.”
-- Dr. Howard D. Goldstein, M.D., Managing Partner, Annapolis Internal Medicine, November, 2007
The patient receives a one-time password through their eChart in the AMCIS HealthPort which they can then give to another provider to view their medical records. For example, a hospital admitting staff could instantly access a patient’s medical record in a critical time of need. A specialist’s office could retrieve a patient’s record without calling the patient’s primary care physician.
In addition, an AMCIS Office can grant permission to known providers to access patient records for patients that they share. The community practice, which doesn't have AMCIS, can log in through the viewer when necessary and access their patient’s medical information.
This continuity of care results in a dramatic reduction in the time required to share records between providers, better patient care and increased patient and provider satisfaction.
