Managing referrals with AMCIS ensures proper compliance and reimbursement.
Using the AMCIS Patient Care Manager providers and staff can send referral forms electronically or by fax with a few simple clicks. For example, in the Consults section of the patient's medical record:
- Click ‘New Referral’
- If the referring provider is not automatically populated, enter the first few letter and search.
- Select the appropriate referring provider.
- Enter the diagnosis and reason for the referral.
- Select the referring provider location type and the number of permitted visits.
- Sign and auto-fax.
The referral form will automatically be faxed to the referring provider and stored in the patient’s chart. In addition, using the HealthPort patients can print the referral forms from their own computer so they do not need to go to the office to pick it up. Patients can also request referrals on-line when required by their insurance as an added convenience.
Specialists can track the number of referrals remaining for their patients. Notes can be entered in association with the referral form and used as a handy tool to track any new insurance information.
Referring provider's notes located in the patient’s eChart are easy to view along side with the referral forms.
