In the AMCIS HealthPort patients can view and interact with active medications list.
Medication errors can be avoided by allowing patients to interact with their medication list. For example:
- If patients see an error in the active medication list or if they change their medications, they can edit the active medication list.
- Note, that this does not remove the medication but instead flags it as changed or discontinued by the patient.
- Then AMCIS automatically sends the patient's provider a correspondence in the AMCIS Patient Care Manager informing the provider that the patient has edited their active meds list.
- With one click, the provider can view the change.
- With a second click the provider can approve of the change or send a new correspondence to the patient addressing the issue.
Patients can also request new medications and prescription refills.
- The refill request then gets routed directly to provider for approval using the AMCIS Patient Care Manager.
- When approved, the prescription is routed to the patient's pharmacy of choice via the Pharmacy Health Information Exchange (PHIE).
- The patient will receive an e-mail notifying them that their prescription refill has been sent to their pharmacy.
This system saves the provider and the patient time and headaches.
